Modica, the noble \u201cCity of a Hundred Churches\u201d – once the capital of the extended county that gave its name to the province – is divided into two historical areas: Modica Alta, which \u201cclimbs\u201d up the mountain with its buildings and narrow streets, and Modica Bassa, extending across the valley, on what was once the bed of the Ianni Mauro and Pozzo dei Pruni rivers.<\/p>\n

Perfectly uniting the two districts is the imposing church of San Giorgio, originating from the first half of the 17th century.<\/p>\n
Upon reaching the valley, you will discover the architectures of the Church of San Pietro, dating back to the 14th century with certain sections and some remodelling completed during the 18th century, along with the Church of Santa Maria di Betlemme, whose Norman origins can be seen in the magnificent portals.<\/p>\n
